Dear Santa
02:49
|
|||
Dear Santa, I know that it’s been a while
and I know that I’ve been out of touch
it’s hard to believe that it’s been a whole year
and that everything’s changed so much
I still wake up when I hear footsteps
like I did when you used to come down from up north
but I go back to bed and remind myself that
you were always just traveling back and forth
you were no saint but I was no good
for goodness sake we did what we could
it was a gift but I think we misunderstood
I imagine you’ve been keeping busy
and you won’t spend this Christmas alone
yeah those five golden rings didn’t mean a thing
but I guess that I should have known
remember how we’d drive around all night
with the stars overhead and the snow coming down
I could never decide to be naughty or nice
when I knew you were coming to town
you were no saint but I was no good
for goodness sake we did what we could
it was a gift but I think we misunderstood
I hope that you’re well and you’re happy
days merry and bright that’s sincere
anyway I’ve been a good girl and I think I deserve
a new handbag and an iphone this year

Let's Build an Igloo
03:21
|
|||
In winter when the snow comes down
And turns the city into the North Pole
It makes me want to shelter somewhere
We can keep each other warm
We could decide to stay in bed all day
Or start a war with snowballs
We could slide down slopes and inclines
In a flying saucer
Let’s build an igloo
We can live like Eskimos
Let’s build an igloo
Run around in snowshoes
Let’s build an igloo
We’ll kiss by rubbing nose to nose
Let’s build an igloo
We’ll stay warm in ice and snow
We’ll pack the snowfall into ice bricks
And we’ll form them into a round dome
We’ll line with furs and sealskins
And we’ll call it home
Let’s build an igloo
We can live like Eskimos
Let’s build an igloo
Run around in snowshoes
Let’s build an igloo
We’ll kiss by rubbing nose to nose
Let’s build an igloo
We’ll stay warm in ice and snow
And the polar bears can come and share
Our cosy little den
And the reindeer they can stay near
If we need some other friends
But we’ll be the only people
As far as the eye can see
Cause our love is snow blind baby
And there’s only you and me
Let’s build an igloo
We can live like Eskimos
Let’s build an igloo
Run around in snowshoes
Let’s build an igloo
We’ll kiss by rubbing nose to nose
Let’s build an igloo
We’ll stay warm in ice and snow
Let’s build an igloo
Faces rosy from the cold
Let’s build an igloo
We can learn to take it slow
Let’s build an igloo
Where we can take off all our clothes
Let’s build an igloo
We’ll stay warm in ice and snow

The Littlest Reindeer
02:53
|
|||
The littlest reindeer
Doesn’t pull the sleigh
It’s no bigger than a toy
All it wants to do is play
It rides in Santa’s pocket
And nibbles cookie crumbs
Drinks eggnog from a thimble
With a drop of spicy rum
It has tiny little antlers
And its tiny little hooves
Make a tiny little tapping
On the chimneys and the rooves
The littlest reindeer
Wears a single jingle bell
So everybody listening
Can tell that all is well
And it wears a sprig of mistletoe
Oh everywhere it goes
So when it sees you sleeping
It can kiss you on the nose
It has tiny little antlers
And its tiny little hooves
Make a tiny little tapping
On the chimneys and the rooves
You might think that it’s an ornament
Nestled in the fragrant pine
Till it gives a candy cane a lick
A twinkle in its eye
And it prances on the branches
With a caper of delight
In a multicolored halo
Formed by every winking light
The littlest reindeer
Is a pampered pet
Out of all the other reindeer
Santa loves this one the best
And when the night is over
It settles down to sleep
In a stable made of gingerbread
Beneath the Christmas tree
It has tiny little antlers
And its tiny little hooves
Make a tiny little tapping
On the chimneys and the rooves

Peppermint Schnapps
03:34
|
|||
A very special season’s here
It comes around just once a year
And with it comes a special treat
It’s very strong and sickly sweet
And though you don’t like to admit
You wait all year for that first sip
Nothing else comes near it
It fills you with the holiday spirit
Peppermint schnapps
Peppermint schnapps
Better than candy from a candy shop
Drink it down to the very last drop
Peppermint peppermint schnapps
When Santa brings his sack of loot
You want to leave him something good
To make him feel like he’s at home
And drive the chill from his old bones
Oh milk and cookies can be nice
But they don’t melt that polar ice
He needs something more warming
To keep him flying till the morning
Peppermint schnapps...
The wise men brought to Bethlehem
A bottle of the stuff
Cause frankincense and myrrh don’t help much
When the going’s rough
The souls of a thousand candy canes
That drowned in alcohol
Distilled so when you drink it
You don’t feel a thing at all
For Christmas family gathers close
As Father Son and Holy Ghost
You've come up with a dozen ways
To make it through the holidays
And every single one begins
With pouring out a little drink
And if you get hung over
You'll go ahead and pour another
Peppermint schnapps...

Gift of the Magi
04:26
|
|||
We were young and broke, but we didn’t care
You had your pocketwatch, I had my golden hair
We were just scraping by, waiting to make it big
I was an ingénue, you were just a kid
But it was Christmas eve, didn’t know what to do
How could I hope to buy some kind of gift for you
Ain’t got no trust fund hon, ain’t got no savings bond
Just got my student loans, the clothes that I’ve got on
I want to give you something that I can’t afford
Let you believe with me we’re really not so poor
You see that package waiting underneath the tree
It’s just a token of how much you mean to me
Frankincense (here’s what I wish, what I imagine)
Gold and myrrh (that I could give, give what you are worth)
Put them in (this is the gift, gift of the magi)
The manger (it’s not a fraction of all that you deserve)
I used to window shop, I would never tell
There was a pair of combs made out of tortoiseshell
I tried them on one time, put up my long long hair
If I were rich and famous that’s what I would wear
You wore your father’s watch, it was a vintage piece
It made you feel like fifty million bucks at least
But it was fastened with a flimsy nickel chain
You wanted better but you said it’s all the same
I want to give a token to you of my love
A little luxury to keep your spirits up
I’ll cut and sell my hair, the only gold I’ve got
To buy a golden chain for your pocketwatch
Frankincense (here’s what I wish, what I imagine)
Gold and myrrh (that I could give, give what you are worth)
Put them in (this is the gift, gift of the magi)
The manger (it’s not a fraction of all that you deserve)
I can’t forget the look that flashed across your face
When I walked into our apartment late that day
And I took off my hat revealed a pixie cut
Gave you a little box told you to open up
You pulled out the golden chain that lay inside
Were you about to laugh were you about to cry
You said I shouldn’t have, because your watch was sold
So you could buy for me a pretty pair of combs
